Simple Ginger Syrup
Homemade ginger syrup is easy to make by simmering fresh ginger with water and sugar, then straining it. It's a flavorful addition to beverages like tea, cocktails, or sparkling water. Health benefits of ginger syrup include soothing digestion, easing nausea, and providing anti-inflammatory properties. Add it to sparkling water to make an Italian Soda.
- 1 cup organic cane sugar
- 3/4 cup filtered water
- 1 cup sliced fresh organic ginger root, peeled
Instructions
In a saucepan on medium heat combine the sugar and water.
Stir constantly until the sugar is dissolved.
Add the ginger and continue to heat, bringing the syrup to a light boil.
Cover, reduce heat and allow the mixture to simmer for about 15 minutes.
Remove from heat and allow to cool and let it steep in the covered pan for about 1 hour or until it reaches your preferred taste.
Strain out the ginger and bottle under a tight seal and keep in the refrigerator to prevent it from fermenting.
Mix into your favorite drinks, baking etc. and enjoy.
