Easy Marinara Sauce
Homemade marinara sauce is a flavorful tomato-based sauce typically made with ingredients like tomatoes, garlic, onions, and herbs. It offers health benefits by providing a rich source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants from the tomatoes and other vegetables. These nutrients may support overall health, including heart health, immune function, and inflammation reduction. Additionally, homemade marinara sauce allows for control over ingredients like salt and sugar, promoting a healthier option compared to store-bought varieties.
- 28 ounces of canned tomatoes
- 1 medium onion minced
- 2 large garlic cloves
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- pinch of red pepper flakes
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Place all the above ingredients in your Vitamix Blender or high powered blender and blend on high until smooth
- You can pour the mix into a medium saucepan and heat through or you can keep blending in your Vitamix on high for about 10 mins and it will heat up the mix.
- Serve over your favorite pasta or gnocchi.
*salt can be adjusted to taste and a little cane sugar can be added if the tomatoes taste bitter.
